Meet the Program Director: Jim Iovino
Leading the Scripps Journalism Career Program is Jim Iovino, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist with over 25 years of experience in both print and multimedia journalism.
Jim Iovino, Program Director of the Scripps Journalism Career Program, bringing his extensive experience in print and broadcast journalism to guide the initiative.
Prior to joining Scripps, Iovino was deeply involved in nurturing the next generation of journalists. He served as a visiting assistant professor at West Virginia University, where he spearheaded the NewStart Newspaper Ownership Initiative, dedicated to training and supporting future community newspaper owners. His distinguished career also includes a significant tenure as deputy managing editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where he spearheaded digital editorial strategies and contributed to the paper’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Tree of Life massacre. His experience extends to broadcast as well, having served as senior news editor for digital properties at NBC-owned stations and digital managing editor for the NBC station in Washington, D.C. Iovino’s multifaceted expertise makes him an ideal leader to guide your transition into a successful broadcast journalism career.
