AWD Sport Mode Transformed: After activating the Xdrive Delete, the AWD Sport mode in my M340i felt drastically different from the standard M3 AWD Sport. Instead of engaging the front wheels when needed, launching the car resulted in stationary rear-wheel spin. This behavior suggests a complete disconnect of the front axle, making DTC and AWD Sport a potentially dangerous combination on public roads due to the increased risk of losing control.
Unexpected “Stock” Mode Behavior: Reverting to the “Stock” or “4WD” setting in the app revealed another surprising change. In Sport Plus mode, attempting a launch led to all four wheels spinning without forward movement. This was not the expected “stock” behavior and indicates that even after reverting, the xDrive system isn’t truly restored to its original state. Thankfully, Sport and Comfort modes seemed unaffected and retained their predictable handling characteristics. However, caution is advised against using Sport Plus in slippery conditions after flashing back to “stock” due to this unexpected all-wheel spin.
Recommended Configuration and Warnings: The most reliable and controllable configuration post-xDrive delete appears to be the “Stock” setting with DTC enabled. The vehicle is already highly responsive in this setup. A strong warning: avoid using 4WD Sport on public roads. This mode’s aggressive rear-wheel bias, exacerbated by the xDrive delete, makes it unsuitable for anything but controlled environments like race tracks or completely deserted roads.
Drifting Recommendations: For drifting enthusiasts, engaging 2WD mode after the xDrive delete offers the purest rear-wheel drive experience. This allows for controlled slides and maximizes the fun factor in a safe and appropriate setting. Remember to always prioritize safety and choose driving locations wisely. The xDrive delete significantly alters the vehicle’s handling, demanding respect and careful consideration of its capabilities.
