PECASE: Recognizing Exceptional CAREER Awardees
The PECASE award is a highly esteemed recognition bestowed upon outstanding recent CAREER awardees. Nominees are selected based on three core criteria: innovative research relevant to the sponsoring organization’s mission; community service through scientific leadership, education, or outreach; and a strong commitment to STEM equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion. PECASE fosters advancements in science and technology, raises awareness of STEM careers, strengthens connections between research and national goals, and emphasizes the importance of science for the nation’s future. NSF nominates up to twenty-six CAREER awardees annually, with final selection and announcement managed by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The PECASE award highlights individuals poised to become leaders in academic research and education in the 21st century. Note that individuals cannot directly apply for PECASE; nominations originate from participating federal agencies.
