What is the Georgia Medical Care Foundation Nurse Aide Program?
The GMCF Nurse Aide Program is a state-approved program designed to prepare individuals for a career as a CNA. This accelerated program combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical experience to ensure you gain a well-rounded understanding of patient care. Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination and become a registered CNA in Georgia.

Medical Terminology for Allied Health Sciences: Introduces fundamental medical terminology, including roots, prefixes, suffixes, abbreviations, and anatomical terms. (2 credit hours)

Nurse Aide Accelerated: Provides comprehensive training in the role and responsibilities of a CNA. Topics include:
- Critical thinking skills
- Human body systems and common diseases
- Responding to and reporting patient changes
- Nutrition and diet therapy
- Vital signs measurement
- Emergency procedures
- Ethics and legal issues in healthcare
- Mental health and psychosocial well-being of the elderly
- Use and care of medical equipment

Admission Requirements
- 17 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED is not required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS and First Aid certification.
- Negative TB skin test or current chest x-ray.
