Centre County Car Repair Program: Your Guide to Transportation Services

The Centre County Office of Transportation is dedicated to providing essential transportation services to all Centre County residents. While we don’t directly offer a “Centre County Car Repair Program,” we understand the critical need for reliable transportation to access vital services, including vehicle maintenance and repair. Our programs ensure you can reach essential destinations throughout the county, regardless of your transportation needs.

Understanding Centre County’s Shared-Ride Transportation

Centre County operates a shared-ride, demand-response transportation system. This service is designed to be cost-effective and accessible, meaning you’ll likely share your ride with other passengers heading in similar directions. To utilize this service, advance booking is essential. Reservations must be made by 2:00 pm the day before you require transportation, although we strongly recommend booking even earlier to guarantee availability.

To book your transportation, please call the Centre County Office of Transportation at 814-355-6807. Our phone lines are open from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Our friendly staff will assist you with your booking.

Door-to-Door Service and Passenger Assistance Guidelines

We offer a convenient door-to-door service. Our drivers are trained to provide safe and reliable transportation, but it’s important to understand the scope of their assistance. While drivers can offer physical guidance, they are not authorized to lift or carry passengers.

If you require more extensive assistance, such as needing an escort for medical reasons, you are welcome to bring your own. Please inform us about any escorts when you schedule your appointment to ensure appropriate arrangements. Escorts must be capable of physically assisting the passenger.

For passengers with physical challenges, we provide lift van services. It is crucial to inform us of your lift van requirements each time you book to ensure a suitable vehicle is assigned to your ride.

Scheduling Your Transportation: A Step-by-Step Guide

To utilize Centre County transportation, registration is mandatory. New clients can register through PennDOT’s Find My Ride website (Find My Ride website (link)) for Senior-shared Ride and Medical Assistance programs. Alternatively, registration can be completed over the phone for any client.

Advance scheduling is essential as same-day service is not available. You can book your trips up to two months in advance, with the latest booking time being 2:00 pm on the business day preceding your appointment.

For recurring appointments at the same location and time, subscription-based scheduling is available. Transportation services operate Monday through Friday, excluding County Government holidays.

Our vans operate between 6:30 am and 5:00 pm. For appointments in Bellefonte and State College, please schedule drop-offs no earlier than 8:00 am and pick-ups no later than 4:00 pm to allow for adequate travel time. Passengers in outlying areas may need to adjust their schedules with later drop-off and earlier pick-up times. Please note that CCOT services are unavailable on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Spring Break (date varies)
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Holiday
  • Christmas Holiday

Cancellations and Appointment Changes

Prompt cancellation is crucial if you no longer require your scheduled transportation. Please notify the Centre County Office of Transportation as soon as possible and before your scheduled pickup time. Changes to destinations or trip additions on the day of service are not possible.

For Mental Health / Intellectual Disabilities passengers, cancellations or changes must be initiated by their assigned counselor or program representative, not directly by the passenger.

Passenger Conduct and Service Expectations

To ensure a comfortable and respectful environment for all passengers, we ask that everyone conduct themselves in an orderly and polite manner while using County vehicles. For the comfort and hygiene of all, eating, drinking, and tobacco use are strictly prohibited in all County vehicles.

Committed to Quality Transportation

The Centre County Office of Transportation is dedicated to providing dependable and punctual transportation services. We are committed to serving our community with integrity, passion, and unwavering dedication. While we focus on transportation and not a “centre county car repair program,” we recognize that our services are vital for residents to access a wide range of essential services, contributing to the overall well-being of Centre County.
