The Intermountain Centers Foster Care Program Coordinator is responsible for providing essential oversight and direct support to both licensed and unlicensed kinship foster homes. Your role will be critical in ensuring these homes provide a safe, nurturing, and compliant environment for children in kinship care.

Key Responsibilities of the Foster Care Program Coordinator

As an Intermountain Centers Foster Care Program Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of Kinship Homes: Managing and overseeing both licensed and unlicensed kinship foster care settings.
  • Regular Home Visits: Conducting monthly visits to kinship foster homes to monitor progress, provide support, and ensure compliance.
  • License Compliance: Ensuring kinship families maintain compliance with all Office of Licensing and Regulation (OLR) rules and regulations related to their foster care license.
  • Collaboration with DCS and Intermountain: Actively participating in monthly provider meetings with the Department of Child Safety (DCS) and Intermountain Centers leadership.
  • Team Participation: Attending weekly staff meetings and engaging in weekly supervision sessions with the Regional Kinship Supervisor to ensure program alignment and professional development.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Maintaining some after-hours availability to address program needs and adhering to agency attendance policies.
  • Additional Duties: Performing other related duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the Kinship Foster Care Program and Intermountain Centers.

Qualifications to Become a Kinship Program Coordinator

To excel in the role of Intermountain Centers Foster Care Program Coordinator, candidates should possess the following qualifications and prerequisites:

  • Education and Experience: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus one year of experience working with child caregivers and/or within the child welfare system.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with families, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, respecting cultural differences and individual needs.
  • Commitment to Kinship Care: A strong dedication to providing ongoing oversight and support to kinship families involved in dependency placements.

Regulatory Requirements

To meet the regulatory standards for this role, candidates must also meet the following criteria:

  • Age Requirement: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Drug Screening: Ability to pass a 5-panel drug test and willingness to submit to regular drug screenings.
  • Fingerprint Clearance: Must possess and maintain a valid DPS Level I fingerprint clearance card throughout employment.
  • Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications may be required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Driver’s License and Insurance: A current, valid Arizona Driver’s License, a 39-month Motor Vehicle Report, and proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance are required to meet insurance requirements, if applicable to the role.
  • TB Test: Initial current negative TB test result may be required (Employer provides).
